KKM Operating Company (KKM OC) celebrated the Oil Workers’ Day and presented its employees with various gifts of gratitude for their hard work and dedication. All employees received awards equal to their monthly salaries. Additional thirty people were given cameras, TV sets and mobile phones, and another two employees received new cars. The management of KKM OC has always emphasized its policy towards their employees strongly believing that people are their most important asset. The company makes regular investments in their employees, providing them with ongoing training and education, improving their working conditions and increasing their welfare and safety.

The Kulanshi Art Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of the arts (traditional fine arts, literature, cinematography, photography, music, architecture etc.) The Second International Art Forum was held in Astana and Almaty where works by European and Kazakhstan artists were displayed. The proceeds from paintings purchased during the forum will go for the funding of underprivileged children in art schools in Astana and Almaty, and for the artistic development of children's art in Kazakhstan. Lancaster Group was proud to participate in the organization of this forum by providing financial support in the total amount of USD 30,000.

NIIT@Futurtech has been successfully operating since October 2006 under partnership between Lancaster Group and NIIT. With the support of the National Innovation Fund, the centre is now developing Mass IT Literacy Programme for the Republic of Kazakhstan. The purpose of the mission is to make the highest quality IT education available to people of all social classes and, particularly, to give an opportunity to the underprivileged to study IT. The programme also supports the President’s vision of putting Kazakhstan in the list of the 50 most advanced nations in the world.

KazInvestBank (KIB) provides constant support to the Harvard Club of Central Asia (HCCA). On 6 August HCCA invited Dr. John Schoeberlein, Director of the Central Asian and Caucasus Program at Harvard University, to open a series of lectures “Distinguished Speakers Series” with a speech on Islam’s role in Central Asia. More than 80 professionals and experts on the topic attended the event including graduates of the North American and European universities. To help organize the lecture KazInvestBank granted USD 5,000 of which USD 4,000 went for reconstruction of the HCCA website.

KKM Operating Company contributed USD 1,600 to the Federation of Intelligent Sports of Aktobe Oblast to help them organize competitions.

Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) is an expanding alliance of over 200 international companies dedicated to combating the AIDS epidemic through the business sector’s unique skills and expertise. Lancaster Group is the first Kazakhstan company to become a member of GBC to support actions in fighting global epidemics. By joining GBC, Lancaster Group shows its commitment to supporting the Government and its activities/national strategies in preventing and combating HIV/AIDS and TB in the country.

KKM Operating Company works closely with the Aktobe city administration on social projects and regularly provides financial and other assistance. In June, at the request of the administration, KKM OC bought two sanitation trucks worth USD 69,000 in support of their activities to improve the environment and keep the city clean. In the same month, KKM OC provided USD 49,200 to the city administration for the construction of a mosque in Aktobe.

As a regular contributor to the social projects of Aktobe Oblast, KKM Operating Company provided financial assistance of USD 160 to the Department of Defence in organizing events for the veterans on the Victory Day. In the same month, the public foundation Industrial Innovation and Social and Economic Development of the West Kazakhstan Oblast received USD 182,900 from KKM OC at the request of the city administration.

Train of Camels is a charity campaign initiated by local NGOs and business people with support of the Almaty city administration. As a symbol of the silk road and nomads, 30 camel sculptures, painted in bright colours by well-known local artists, businessmen, actors and sports people, have been placed around the city to beautify the environment. The camels are offered for sale to corporations and are expected to generate a certain amount of funds to go for the purchase of expensive medical equipment for Almaty hospitals. Lancaster Group has made a contribution by purchasing a camel sculpture worth USD 7,200, which will soon arrive to decorate the front of our offices.

April
North Kazakhstan's Ayrtau family-type orphanage houses 12 families with a residential school of more than 200 children. Syrymbet takes care of the 8th family with 27 children at the age of 4-16 and provides a regular assistance to the family. In April, five new computers Pentium-4 were given to the children and this month Syrymbet purchased full sets of clothes for them. To date, over KZTG 500,000 has been spent to support the family. Under its social responsibility programme, Syrymbet also provides regular training opportunities to the local specialists, with a total of USD 24,300 contribution made for these initiatives.

KKM Operating Company made a contribution to the public foundation Pravoporyadok (Law and Order) by purchasing 100 computers and software worth USD 158,000 to maximize the effectiveness of their activities on crime prevention.

The Federation of Table Tennis of the Republic of Kazakhstan actively promotes the development of the sport in the country. Kazakhstan’s tennis players are gaining recognition in Asia and are regularly invited to participate in various competitions. Lancaster Group has provided financial support to the Federation of Table Tennis to provide the national table tennis team with an opportunity to participate in international competitions and assist the Federation in identifying and training young promising tennis players.

Lancaster Group provides continued support to the Appeal of Conscience Foundation in their activities to advance religious freedom, human rights and inter-religious dialogue worldwide. Lancaster Group has donated USD 10,000 in support of the Awards Dinner held on 27 March 2007 in honour of The Lord Browne of Madingley, Group Chief Executive, BP and The Honorable Richard C. Holbrooke, United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations (1999-2001).

In celebration of the national holiday Nauryz Aktobe city administration organized various events and activities for the citizens. KazInvestBank granted USD 4,000 to support the celebration and encourage people to participate in competitions on Kazakh national traditions.

KazInvestBank participated in an annual Charity Vienna Ball with a contribution of USD 2,800. Held at Hyatt hotel the event was organized by Almaty Rotary Club. Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.

A regular contributor to the Harvard Club of Central Asia (HCCA), KazInvestBank has sponsored the club in organization of the conference on Quality of Human Resources in the total amount of USD 3,200.

ERSAI Caspian Contractor received an approach to support indigent families and orphan children. In collaboration with Karakiyansky District of Employment and Social Programs Department, ERSAI has three indigent families permanently residing within Kuryk village. These three families as well as two orphans from the same village are taken under patronage and are provided with monthly allowances.
