This summer, on July 14, the second triathlon tournament - Ironman 70.3 Astana 2019, organized by BI Group, was held in Nur Sultan.
IRONMAN 70.3 Astana is the latest international level competition in Central Asia, which takes place in the form of a triathlon, and includes the following stages - swimming, running and cycling.
IRONMAN 70.3 Astana begins with a 1.9 km sail in the quiet waters of the Ishim River. The most spectacular was the start: 1,500 athletes entered the water every six seconds, they all made one circle, the audience had the opportunity to observe the athletes and support them.
The bicycle race consisted of two circles and ran along high-quality roads with unique views of the modern metropolis: Ak Orda, the House of Ministries, Parliament, and Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport. The final climb at the stage was 150 m. The route was built as comfortably as possible, which allowed us to show high speed performance.
After these stages, the athletes went to the final running stage with a length of 21.1 kilometers in the "Triathlon Park Astana", and also ran along the promenade, returned to the park through two bridges. The finish was in the center of the triathlon park, where a huge platform with stands for fans and guests was made, it should be noted that the organization of the event was at a high level.
The length of the entire tournament route was 113 kilometers. A feature of the BI Group Ironman 70.3 Astana 2019 race is the participation of athletes of the Prо category. The oldest participant in the competition was the 78-year-old marathon runner from Japan. More than a thousand people arrived in the capital to support the participants.
The total number of participants was 1,400 people from 50 countries. Among the participants of the triathlon, one could see eminent people of the Kazakhstani community, politicians, outstanding athletes and representatives of the business elite.
In turn, this year the Lancaster Group team also took part in this triathlon annually. A strong team was formed called Lancaster’s Power - team captain Vladimir Malinovsky (swim), team members Talgat Bostekov (race) and Ainakulov Marat (race by bike). Also in singles from the company Abdi Ibrahim Global Pharm, which is part of our group of companies, Rzayev Farukh made his debut with excellent high results.
All our guys showed a high level of physical fitness, which is proved by the results of the competition. The judging system at the competitions corresponded to international standards, each participant was assigned bracelets with sensors that marked the distance, speed and movement of each athlete along the perimeter of the competition routes.
According to the results of the competition, the Lancaster’s Power team went through all stages of the triathlon with dignity, and took the well-deserved 7th place out of 16 declared teams with a result of 5:48:46. In turn, Rzayev Farukh passed his solitary distance in record time for the debutant 5:11:03.
