May 12, 2019 Almaty Choreographic School named after V.I. A. Selezneva celebrated her 85th birthday. School graduates of different years have been theater soloists: Astana Opera, Astana Ballet, GATOB named after M. Abay, the Bulat Ayukhanov State Academic Dance Theater, theaters in Austria, Hungary, Germany, as well as guests from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Yakutia, Buryatia, and Bashkortostan congratulated the school on such a significant date.

On the occasion of this event, it was decided to shoot a documentary about the history and activities of the school. The management of Lancaster Group Kazakhstan has decided to sponsor the School in the form of organizing and financing the creation of a documentary film.

Almaty Choreographic School named after V.I. A. Selezneva is the golden cradle of Kazakh choreographic art. For 85 years, the school has been providing basic choreographic education to ballet dancers and dance ensemble dancers. The artistic director of the school today is Lee Lyudmila Munsekovna. Lyudmila Munsekovna herself is a graduate of the Almaty Choreographic School (1969), as well as the leading soloist of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after A. Abay (1969-1989), methodologist of the Department of Special Disciplines (2003-2007), classical dance teacher and artistic director of the Almaty Choreographic School named after V.I. A. Selezneva. Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1986), Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2005), Knight of the Order of Kurmet (2010). She was awarded the “Enbek Ardageri” medal (2016).

Today we can safely say that the Almaty Choreographic School has rightfully taken one of the first places among the world's leading ballet schools and is the best school in Central Asia. This is evidenced by the opinions of many world ballet figures who unanimously note the highest achievement of the Kazakh School of Choreographic Education as one of the standards of modern culture.

The documentary is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the first ballet school in Kazakhstan, the Almaty Choreographic School named after V.I. Alexandra Selezneva. The film traces the history of the school's formation, but focuses on the present moment. How does the oldest educational institution in the country live today, and what kind of people work there? The older, middle and very young generations use painstaking, daily work to create future ballet stars. This video document is about the selfless and selfless work of the entire staff of the beloved Seleznevka.
