This summer, July 14 in Moscow. Nur-Sultan hosted the 2nd triathlon tournament - Ironman 70.3 Astana 2019, which was organized by BI Group.
IRONMAN 70.3 Astana is the newest international competition in Central Asia, which takes place in the form of a triathlon, and includes the following stages: swimming, running and cycling.
IRONMAN 70.3 Astana begins with a 1.9 km voyage in the quiet waters of the Ishim River. The start was the most spectacular: 1,500 athletes entered the water every six seconds, they all made one lap, and the spectators had the opportunity to watch and support the athletes.
The cycling stage consisted of two laps and ran on high-quality roads with unique views of the modern metropolis: Ak Orda, the House of Ministries, the Parliament, and Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport. The final climb at the stage was 150 m. The route was built as comfortably as possible, which made it possible to show high speed performance.
After these stages, the athletes moved to the final running stage with a length of 21.1 kilometers in the Astana Triathlon Park, ran along the waterfront and returned to the park via two bridges. The finish was in the very center of the triathlon park, where a huge platform with stands for fans and guests was built. It should be noted that the event was organized at a high level.
The entire tournament route was 113 kilometers long. A feature of the BI Group Ironman 70.3 Astana 2019 race is the participation of Pro athletes. The oldest participant in the competition was a 78-year-old marathon runner from Japan. More than a thousand people arrived in the capital to support the participants.
The total number of participants was 1,400 people from 50 countries. Among the triathlon participants, one could see eminent people of the Kazakh community, politicians, outstanding athletes and representatives of the business elite.
In turn, this year the Lancaster Group team also took part in this triathlon every year. A strong team called Lancaster's Power was formed — team captain Vladimir Malinovsky (swim), team members Talgat Bostekov (forrunning) and Ainakulov Marat (bike ride). Farukh Rzayev also made his singles debut from Abdi Ibrahim Global Pharm, which is part of our group of companies, with excellent results.
All our guys showed a high level of physical fitness, which is proved by the results of the competition. The competition refereeing system met international standards; each participant was assigned wristbands with sensors that marked the distance, speed and movement of each athlete along the perimeter of the competition routes.
As a result of the competition, the Lancaster's Power team went through all stages of triathlon with dignity, and took the well-deserved 7th place out of 16 announced teams with a score of 5:48:46. In turn, Farukh Rzayev completed his singles race in record time for the debutant 5:11:03. The guys did their best, because, firstly, it was a challenge for each of them personally, and they also sincerely wanted to bring victory to our company!
