In connection with the tragedy that occurred in June 2019 in Arys, Turkestan region, which suffered from ammunition explosions on the territory of a military unit, Lancaster Group Kazakhstan, as part of its social activities, decided to provide material assistance to restore the city, allocating 100,000,000 tenge from its budget.

From the very first day, as it became known about the tragedy, shareholders began to study the situation in Arys to help restore the city. A detailed analysis of the degree of destruction of houses and administrative buildings was carried out with the company's executives visiting the scene of the emergency. The company's shareholders, represented by Berik Kaniev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lancaster Group, decided to allocate 100 million tenge to restore the city and transfer these funds to BI Group construction teams restoring Arys.

To date, a total of 177 houses are being renovated and 80% of the work has been completed: facade decoration, installation of exterior doors and windows, and roofing. Replaced: 41,380 square meters of roofing, 199 entrance doors, 1,461 square meters of windows and 19,680 square meters of facades. Interior finishing is underway.

BI Group operates in four sectors.

In sector 1, restoration work is being carried out at the expense of Lancaster Group and BI Group — 88 private residential buildings. 1 house was completely demolished, as it could not be restored, and now a new one is being built in its place. 87 houses are nearing completion. To be precise, 40 houses in this sector are being restored at the expense of Lancaster Group and BI Group, and 48 are being restored with the assistance fund of the Mayor's Office of the Turkestan Region. To date, 50 houses have been fully renovated.

According to project manager Sagitzhan Sakalov: “The first weeks were incredibly difficult — the thermometer showed +44-45 degrees. Our teams literally left Astana, Shymkent and Almaty. And there were also requests from residents, which changed every day. And this might not have been in stock, so ordering additional materials required time and money.

Of course, we tried to help and please everyone, but due to the endless change of wishes, difficulties in communicating with victims and upset people, and the lack of design drawings, the work became much more complicated. Everyone was on edge. It's not an easy test. I would like to say a big thank you to all my colleagues and contractors for their work, patience and understanding,” Sagitzhan says. “I would especially like to mention our engineers Kazhymukan Zhumaliyev, Magzhan Seydaliev, Sungat Shaimardanov, Aslan Zhusupov, Bakhytbek Makhin, Sabit Burkhanov, Bibarys Makhambet, Adil Abdulla, Nurbol Nyshan, Nursultan Zhylanbas, Eradila Adilbekova. And our entire team consists of 37 engineers and 530 contractors. Everyone is working hard as one and solving problems that go far beyond their official duties.”
