From January 8 to 14 this year, the 16th International Zhautykov Olympiad was held at the Republican School of Physics and Mathematics in Almaty. Every year, the Zhautykov Olympiad attracts an increasing number of participants from near and far abroad: this year, 570 children, 84 teams and 20 countries participated, such as Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Denmark, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Sweden.
The RFMS team won a decent 2nd place, losing to the guys from Bulgaria and Serbia. The third place was shared by students from the Physics and Mathematics School in Tbilisi, the Lyceum of the Belarusian State University and the Physics and Mathematics School in Tbilisi. Tyumen. Children from the Mathematics Gymnasium in Moscow won the Grand Prix in the category “Best Olympic School” Belgrade, Serbia.
In the future, RFMS aims to expand the geography of Olympiad participants, thereby increasing the level of development and competitiveness of education among students. The uniqueness of this Olympiad lies in the fact that it is held in three subjects at once among specialized schools in physics and mathematics. As a result of the Olympiad, an individual rating was published, as well as a ranking of the strongest teams in specialized schools. Due to its international status, the event is developing bilateral cooperation between schools from all over the world, sharing experience in education, organizing and conducting Olympiads, and increasing interest in physical and mathematical sciences among young people.
This year I would like to mention Aisen Sergeyevich Nikolaev, Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). On his official page on social networks, he said that the Yakutia team traveled to the Zhautykov Olympics at the expense of a canceled festive banquet for leaders and deputies. This act is worthy of respect, and I am glad that education and the future of young people are a priority today! And we sincerely congratulate the team from Yakutia - the guys performed well and won prestigious prizes, receiving 4 bronze medals in physics and computer science.
I would like to add that not only students, but also school teachers competed as part of the IMPACT Olympiad 2020 (International Math, Physics, and Computer science Teachers and Trainers Olympiad) as part of the Zhautykov Olympiad. Teachers from the capital's RFMS and the Almaty NIS FMN shared the team's first place at this Olympiad. Such events greatly improve the quality of education, and we believe that our work will be justified by the victories and achievements of our children!
We wish all the guys continued success and victories, and not rest on their laurels!
