The Foundation fighting for clean air in Almaty held an event where it presented its mobile application. The guests took part in a discussion with the foundation's experts about the environmental situation in Almaty.
July 28, AirVision.kz organized the first environmental meeting to draw the attention of residents of the city to the problem of air pollution and to acquaint them with the activities of the foundation.
Representatives of the foundation Aigerim Syzdykova and Olzhas Janabek shared the results of their work AirVision.kz. Public Independent Foundation AirVision.kz was created in February 2020 by entrepreneur Berik Kaniev. The mission and goal of the foundation is to improve the air quality of Almaty. The first step was to monitor the air quality. Since 2020, the foundation has been working closely with government agencies, international organizations, the civil sector, Kazakh and foreign scientists.
At the event, the foundation presented the AirVision mobile application. This is a unique multifunctional application with which you can:
- monitor the air pollution index of Almaty in real time;
- report environmental violations;
- make suggestions for improving air quality;
- read news and useful articles about the environment.
The mobile app is available in the AppStore and Google Play.
For a year and a half, the foundation has done a lot of work on the centralized collection of data from various sensors for monitoring the air quality of Almaty and the Almaty agglomeration.
The research of Kazakhstani scientists, including the expert of the foundation, Nasiba Baimatova, on the study of the content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the surface layer of the Almaty air was funded. The results were published in reputable international publications (Science of Total Environment).
Together with the British Embassy in Kazakhstan, work is being carried out to educate the population in terms of environmental awareness through social networks. These events are timed to coincide with the upcoming Conference of the Parties, which will be held in Glasgow.
Together with WECOOP, online seminars were held on the topics of inventory of air pollutants and the transition to AQI (the experience of the European Union).
In partnership with UNICEF, a video about the impact of air pollution on the brain development and health of children has been launched.
Educational videos about ecology were released at the expense of the representative Office of the European Union in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
With the assistance of local entrepreneurs Berik Kaniev, Sergey Spitsyn and Maxim Baryshev, the foundation launched a charity project on gasification of the private sector in Almaty. In total, 200 houses of socially vulnerable segments of the population will take part in the project. Now everyone can submit a request for gas through the web portal airvision.kz.
